Ritual Henna Aftercare
Thank you for choosing Fox Hollow Intuitive Arts! Proper aftercare is the key to achieving a rich, long-lasting henna stain. Your design will continue to darken over the next 48–72 hours, gradually changing from bright orange to a deep reddish-brown unique to your skin.
Your Protective Bandage
At the end of your appointment, your henna is covered with a hypoallergenic medical tape to help protect the drying paste.
The bandage helps reduce casual friction from clothing, bedding, and accidental touches while allowing the henna to continue staining your skin. Please note that the bandage is not waterproof, so avoid showers, swimming, excessive sweating, and rain while it is in place.
Removing the Bandage & Paste
Leave the henna paste on for at least 4 hours. For the darkest possible stain, leaving it on overnight is ideal.
When you're ready:
Carefully peel away the protective bandage.
Gently scrape away any remaining dried paste using the edge of a credit card, coin, or the dull edge of a butter knife.
Do not wash the paste off with water.
Your fresh stain will appear bright orange at first—this is completely normal and will deepen over the next two to three days.
Red Palm Oil Care
Every Fox Hollow henna service includes a complimentary sample of Organic, Fair Trade, Palm Done Right™ Certified Red Palm Oil.
Red palm oil is naturally rich in carotenes and nourishing fatty acids that help condition the skin while creating a light protective barrier that slows moisture exposure, helping your henna stay vibrant longer.
How to Use
After removing the dried henna paste, apply a thin layer of red palm oil over the fresh stain.
Allow it to absorb for at least 30 minutes before exposing the area to water.
Continue applying a small amount daily to moisturize the skin and help extend the life of your henna.
A little goes a long way. Because the oil is unrefined, it has a natural golden-orange color and an earthy scent.
Tips for the Longest-Lasting Stain
Keep the paste on for at least 4 hours (overnight is even better).
Avoid water until after you've removed the paste, then wait as long as possible—ideally 24 hours—before soaking the design.
Moisturize your skin regularly.
Minimize exposure to chlorine, harsh soaps, exfoliants, and excessive scrubbing.
Remember that palms and soles generally stain the darkest, while other areas of the body naturally develop lighter stains.
